Play Golf in Hawaii Like the Pros!

Golf Legends like Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones Jr., Ben Crenshaw, Arnold Palmer, and Greg Norman have all designed world class golf courses in the Hawaiian Islands. Because of the high quality challenging golf courses, breathtaking scenery, and beautiful weather several PGA and LPGA tournaments are held in the Hawaiian Islands throughout the year.  There are four high profile golf events that currently take place in the Hawaiian Islands where you can watch the pros in Hawaii play in person or on TV:

Sentry Tournament of Champions at the Kapalua Resort on Maui starts off the PGA Tour the weekend after New Year's Day with $1 million in prizes.

PGA Sony Open at the Waialae Country Club on Oahu has top pros competing for $1.2 million the second week in January.

Mitsubishi Electric Championships at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai on the Big Island is the season opener for those golfers who have won a Senior PGA Tour event. It takes place mid January with $1.4 million in prize money. Pro-Am package available!

The BMW at Turtle Bay 2017 was held at the world class course designed by Arnold Palmer on the North Shore of Oahu at the Turtle Bay Resort. The purse was $8,700,000 with the winner Marc Leishman taking home $1,575,000!

LPGA Lotte Championship Tournament at the Ko’olina Resort in Kapolei on Oahu features the best of women’s golf where winners compete to share in $2 million in prize money with the winner taking home $300,000! Held mid April.

If you are an avid golfer planning to vacation in the Hawaiian Islands do not pass up an opportunity to play at least one course and enjoy the challenging play and spectacular views Hawaii’s golf courses have to offer.

The Prince course located in Princeville Kauai,
The Plantation course located in Kapalua Maui,
The Manele course in Lanai City Lanai,
The Mauna Kea course at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel Big Island,
The Makai course in Princeville Kauai,
and The Hualalai Jack Nicklaus designed course in Kailua-Kona Big Island.

If you don’t want to lug your golf gear have no fear, club rentals are available at most golf courses.


You can expect good weather to play golf year round so no matter when you come to the Hawaiian Islands you can play at least one round of golf! The weather in Hawaii averages 75 degrees F year round with gentle tradewinds however it is typically rainier during Winter months and some spots around the islands get more rain than others.

Golfing is always more fun when experienced with others! If you are not traveling with golfers you can join a golf tour or get a golf transport package where you get to meet and play with other golfers!

Greens fees range from $45 to several hundred dollars. Golf club rentals are available at many golf courses but prices vary between $22-$65 day. Transportation to and from your Hotel is also available for many golf courses allowing you to totally relax and enjoy the experience! It is highly recommended to take advantage of the option of booking your tee times, club rental, and transportation in advance to ensure you get to play where and when you want to!
